Basketball Recap: Skyline Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Skyline had won six straight home games and Shay Shippen did her part to make it seven on Thursday. The Skyline Grizzlies came out on top against the Shelley Russets by a score of 61-49 thanks in part to Shippen, who went 9 of 17 to rack up 23 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The match was her seventh in a row with at least 15 points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Merzlock, who posted ten points and six rebounds. What's more, she also racked up two steals, the most she's had since back in November of 2024.

Skyline has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points over those games. As for Shelley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

Looking ahead, Skyline will welcome Blackfoot at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Blackfoot will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Skyline surely won't give up without a fight. As for Shelley, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 63-52 win against Idaho Falls on the 11th.
