Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Takes a Loss

St. Mary lost against Cary Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The St. Mary's Saints fell 47-39 to the Cary Academy Chargers. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cary Academy found their leader in sophomore Gabrielle Young, who went 9 for 17 on her way to 23 points. Avni Lutz was another key player, putting up nine points and six boards.

St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Cary Academy, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8.

St. Mary's will venture away from home to take on Ravenscroft at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Ravenscroft knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully St. Mary's likes a good challenge. As for Cary Academy, they will welcome North Raleigh Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. North Raleigh Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season.
