Baseball Game Preview: La Pryor Bulldogs vs. Jefferson Mustangs

The La Pryor Bulldogs will be taking part in a tournament against the Jefferson Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. La Pryor will be strutting in after a victory while Jefferson will be coming in after a loss.

La Pryor saw some tournament action on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Poteet, sneaking past 6-4.

The team relied heavily on Nathan Martinez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Achilles Pargas, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Jefferson didn't have quite enough to beat Charlotte on Thursday and fell 5-4. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Justin Ruiz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Julian Calvario was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

La Pryor's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2. As for Jefferson, they now also have a losing record of 1-2.
