North Newton waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the South Newton Rebels by a score of 55-45. The Spartans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

North Newton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but June Busboom led the charge by putting up five points in addition to seven boards and six steals. Busboom is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Dakota Dyer was another key player, scoring eight points and three steals.

North Newton was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 6.9.

When it comes to explaining why South Newton lost, don't look at Avalin Bohlinger. Despite the final result, she went 9 of 19 on her way to 24 points and seven rebounds. Those 24 points gave Bohlinger a new career-high.

North Newton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-14. As for South Newton, they are on a 29-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-19.

North Newton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-16 defeat against Tri-County on the 4th. South Newton has also already played their next contest (against North White), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
