Softball Game Preview: Kenedy Lions vs. Pettus Eagles

Kenedy has gone 7-1 against Pettus recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Kenedy Lions will look to defend their home field against the Pettus Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Kenedy is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Refugio just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Bobcats, falling 18-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered since February 20th.

Riana Aguirre was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Isabella Ortiz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Kenedy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Pettus lost 16-5 to Port Aransas on Wednesday. The Eagles have struggled against the Marlins recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meetings.

Pettus' loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Kenedy, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-6-1.

Everything went Kenedy's way against Pettus in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Kenedy made off with a 19-1 victory. Will Kenedy repeat their success, or does Pettus have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
