League recap: Bryant scores huge upset over Blount

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Bryant, who defeated 41st ranked Blount, 14-13.

Cole Sharp of McGill-Toolen ran for the longest rushing play in 6A Region 1 this season against Theodore last week. Sharp scampered for 93 yards on the play and finished with 98 on the day as his team topped the Bobcats.

Harry Satterwhite put up the best numbers through the air as McGill-Toolen defeated Theodore. He finished with 10 completions for 142 yards and 3 touchdowns. Satterwhite's favorite target this week was Ito Smith, who caught 3 passes for 47 yards.

Juwan Gaynor was the best receiver in the league this week as Baker bested Montgomery. Gaynor tallied 2 receptions for 57 yards. Aaron Crayton helped Baker's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 27 yards.

He went 10-15 with 0 interceptions.

DePriest Turner was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 136 yards as Murphy beat the Vikings. Kameron Maye also contributed to the rushing game with 41 yards on the ground.

Sandy Valle'e was a key player and the best on defense this week as Bart Sessions' team defeated Eric Collier's team. The 6-foot-0 defensive back.

The Yellowjackets' Satterwhite and Wil Young have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 6A Region 1 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Satterwhite has thrown for 599 yards this season, while Young has 8 catches for 211 yards. Turner from the Panthers leads the league in rushing with 453 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Murphy takes on the Leopards. At the moment, Ronn Lee's team is in first, while Blount is in third.

The Panthers were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Davidson. Murphy came in at 19 in the state poll after placing at number 32 last week.
