Basketball Recap: Central Catholic Comes Up Short

After flying high against Southview last Friday, Central Catholic came back down to earth. The Central Catholic Fighting Irish fell just short of the Voyageur Academy Cougar by a score of 69-66 on Monday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Fighting Irish came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 16th in Ohio, while the Cougar are ranked 157th in Michigan).

With the loss, Central Catholic broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-10. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.7 points. As for Voyageur Academy, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.

Looking ahead, Central Catholic will take on Shawnee at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shawnee will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something Central Catholic surely won't give up without a fight. Voyageur Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
