Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ware Shoals). Everything went their way against the Calhoun Falls Charter Blue Flashes on Friday as Ware Shoals made off with a 19-1 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hornets considering their one-run performance the game before.
Sarah Vinson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Kaylee Watts was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Aly Biggs was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Ware Shoals was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .867. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Ware Shoals moved to 4-5 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Calhoun Falls Charter, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
