Recap: Wayne County Cardinals vs. Southwestern Warriors
After flying high against the Casey County Rebels last Saturday, the Wayne County Cardinals came back down to earth. Wayne County fell just short of Southwestern by a score of 58-56. Wayne County has struggled against Southwestern recently, as their match on Thursday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Southwestern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kinsley Molden, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Molden has scored at least 25% of Southwestern's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Acey, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds.
Wayne County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for Southwestern, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Wayne County will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Whitefield Academy at 3:30 p.m. Southwestern's road trip will continue as they head out to face Madison Central at 7:45 p.m. on January 6th. Hopefully Madison Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Friday.
