Casey Rybak made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Conner Lockhart, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Will McMahon, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Sharon came up short against Titusville on Thursday and fell 11-6.
Carmine Thomas led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Perks, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Sharon's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Oil City, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Oil City has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Sharon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Oil City might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Sharon in their previous matchup on April 2nd. Can the Oilers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
