Volleyball Recap: Stratton Eagles vs. Merino Rams
If Stratton was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Prairie on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Stratton Eagles took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Merino Rams on Saturday.
The final score came out to 25-11, 22-25, 25-11, 25-18.
Sophie Isenbart paced Stratton's offense, picking up 14 kills. Isenbart got some help from
Clare Miltenberger and her 24 assists.
Rilynn Weickum controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Leading Merino to victory were Lauren Lorenzo and Kya Piel. Lorenzo had 17 digs, while Piel had 19 digs, 11 kills, and three aces. Piel is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last 27 games she's played dating back to last season.
Stratton's defeat dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Merino, their victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stratton will square off against Eads at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Merino, they will face off against Fleming at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
