Basketball Recap: Gilman Greyhounds vs. Calvert Hall Cardinals
The Gilman Greyhounds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calvert Hall. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Leading Calvert Hall to victory were Tyrin Bizzelle and Brendan Johnson. Bizzelle scored 18 points along with eight assists, while Johnson scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Calvert Hall's points. James Foster was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Gilman's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Calvert Hall, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-15 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gilman will take on the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Maryland (Pallotti is ranked 114th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 127th). As for Calvert Hall, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on February 4th. Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
