Basketball Game Preview: Lutheran Crusaders vs. Dixon Dukes & Duchesses

The Lutheran Crusaders will head out to face off against the Dixon Dukes & Duchesses at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Lutheran's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games.

On Wednesday, Lutheran ended up a good deal behind Rockford Christian and lost 77-60. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while the Royal Lions are ranked 79th).

Meanwhile, Dixon came tearing into Monday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 61-50 victory over the Tigers.

Dixon pushed their record up to 20-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.

Lutheran came up short against Dixon when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 56-51. Can Lutheran avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
