Basketball Preview: Van Horn Eagles vs. Fort Davis Indians
Van Horn is 10-0 against the Indians since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Van Horn Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fort Davis Indians at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Van Horn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
Last Friday, it was close, but Van Horn sidestepped the Shorthorns for a 30-27 win.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Van Horn to victory, but perhaps none more so than Taylor Martinez, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds. Martinez has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Malia Bermudez, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Fort Davis' recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 62-23 defeat at the hands of Balmorhea.
Van Horn has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. As for Fort Davis, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Van Horn strolled past the Indians in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 47-28. Will Van Horn repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
