Basketball Recap: Raymond/South Bend Comes Up Short

Raymond/South Bend was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 66-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Willapa Valley Vikings.

When it comes to explaining why Raymond/South Bend lost, don't look at Chris Quintana. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 16 on his way to 18 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Quintana's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernando Jimenez, who posted ten points.

Quintana wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Raymond/South Bend was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Willapa Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Blane King, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 20 points. King has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Lucas Lusk, who had 12 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Raymond/South Bend's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Willapa Valley, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.

Raymond/South Bend will head out to take on Wahkiakum at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Raymond/South Bend is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season. As for Willapa Valley, they will venture away from home to face off against Naselle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
