Soccer Game Preview: Richlands vs. Marion

The Richlands Blue Tornado will head out to take on the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Richlands and six for Marion.

Richlands is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Tazewell on Thursday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 4-1. Things were pretty much settled by the half as Richlands were already down 3-0.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Marion's offense. They lost 5-0 to Eastern Montgomery on Monday. While losing is never fun, Marion can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Eastern Montgomery are ranked 30th).

Marion's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Richlands, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Richlands couldn't quite get it done against Marion in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Blue Tornado avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
