Baseball Recap: Clayton Comes Up Short

Clayton lost against Pecos back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets lost 19-1 to the Panthers. The game marked the Yellowjackets' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Clayton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Deagan Maez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Maez has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Clayton and nudges their season record down to 5-4. As for Pecos, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Clayton will square off against Tucumcari at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rattlers have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Pecos, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Sandia Prep on the 3rd.
