Recap: Aledo vs. Royse City
Aledo earned some more postseason success in their matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Royse City as they made off with a 52-24 victory. The Bearcats' win was all the more impressive since Royse City was averaging only 16 points allowed on the season.
The Bearcats' offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 21 points in the first half. Royse City countered with 3 points, leaving the score at 21-3 going into the half. The Bearcats put the contest away in the third quarter with 21 points from the offense and seven points allowed from the defense.
senior Jase McClellan had a dynamite game for Aledo; he rushed for 240 yards and five TDs on 22 carries. One of the most memorable plays of the game was McClellan's 52-yard touchdown rush in the third quarter. Not surprisingly, McClellan's sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season. More help came courtesy of senior Nathen Fingar, who was good for ten tackles.
The win was the 11th in a row for Aledo and raised their record to 11-1. The defeat dropped Royse City's record to 9-3.
Aledo will face off against Red Oak in a playoff contest on Friday. Royse City's playoff loss brings an end to their season.
