Volleyball Recap: Batesville Takes a Loss

If Batesville was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of West Memphis on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pioneers came up short against the Marion Patriots on Thursday, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Marion scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-17, 25-20.

Among those leading the charge was ABBIGALE SIMMONS, who had 12 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last eight games she's played.

Batesville has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Marion, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 18-2.

Coming up, Batesville will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountain Home at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marion, they will venture away from home to square off against Brookland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
