It was a good run, but Piper unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. The contest between the Bengals and the Cypress Bay Lightning didn't end well, with the Bengals falling 68-54. While losing is never fun, the Bengals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 418th, while the Lightning are ranked 47th).

Several Bengals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was LaDanian Mckenzie, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Monestime, who posted 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Piper's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Cypress Bay, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.

Piper and McArthur will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Cypress Bay will take on Boyd-Buchanan in a holiday battle at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lightning will be up against the Buccaneers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 57.6 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
