Preview: Wheaton North Falcons vs. Oswego East Wolves
The Wheaton North Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Oswego East Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Oswego East took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Wheaton North, who comes in off a win.
Even though St. Charles East scored an imposing 65 points on Saturday, Wheaton North still came out on top. Wheaton North managed a 69-65 win over St. Charles East.
Meanwhile, Oswego East unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They received a tough blow as they fell 52-38 to Downers Grove North. While losing is never fun, Oswego East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Downers Grove North is ranked 27th).
Wheaton North's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Oswego East, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.
Wheaton North strolled past Oswego East when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 62-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wheaton North since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
