The Santa Clara Bruins are taking a road trip to  square off against the Monte Vista Christian Mustangs  at 3:30  p.m.  on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication,  the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Santa Clara barely beat South San Francisco the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Santa Clara put the hurt on South San Francisco with a sharp  19-8 win on Wednesday. The  victory continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.
 Rylan Morales made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she  tossed four innings while giving up just two earned  (and three unearned) runs off   four  hits. Morales was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-4.

 In other batting news, Santa Clara got a  massive  performance out of  Marley Hernandez, who  scored four  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in five of her six plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave  Hernandez a new career-high in  hits (three).  Jordyn Guzman was another key player,  going 2-for-5 with four  RBI, two  doubles,  and one  run.
Meanwhile,  there's no place like home for Monte Vista Christian, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Gonzales  a   15-0 shutout  on Tuesday. Considering the Mustangs have won three contests by more than nine  runs this season, Tuesday's  blowout was nothing new.
Like Santa Clara, Monte Vista Christian also got a great game from a two-way player:  Harper Whitby. She  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Whitby also put up four  walks, which were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Samantha Bertoldi, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-3. She also  launched a  home run, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was  Addie Boles, who  scored two  runs and  stole  Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
 Santa Clara's first  win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Monte Vista Christian, their record now sits at 3-1.
 Santa Clara suffered a grim  10-0 defeat to Monte Vista Christian  in their previous meeting  back in March of 2024. Can Santa Clara avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
