Football Recap: Mountain View Falls Short Against Ranked ALA - Queen Creek + How To Watch

Mountain View faced ALA - Queen Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Toros fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 24-22. While the Toros had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Patriots 7-3.

Several Toros players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brady Goodman, who threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns. Goodman has become a key player for Mountain View: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise. A healthy portion of Goodman's aerial production (98 yards to be exact) went to Zachary Galaviz, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

ALA - Queen Creek's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bobby Nesbit, who rushed for 151 yards and one TD while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Those 151 rushing yards gave Nesbit a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Britton Dewitt, who threw for 179 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Mountain View and nudges their season record down to 4-4. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 points. As for ALA - Queen Creek, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain View will host Desert Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Toros will be up against the Jaguars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.33 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for ALA - Queen Creek, they will welcome Corona del Sol at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots will be up against the Aztecs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.38 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
