Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Edgar's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Edgar took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Marathon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Red Raiders a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Wildcats have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Not much got past Jorja Knetter, who gave up just six hits to keep Marathon off the board.

On the hitting side, Edgar's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Kolano, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Edgar is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Marathon, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Edgar will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Raiders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
