Soccer Game Preview: Laguna Creek vs. Sheldon

The Laguna Creek Cardinals will take on the Sheldon Huskies in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Laguna Creek's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Laguna Creek fell victim to Monterey Trail and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Mustangs an easy 5-0 win. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 680th, while the Mustangs are ranked 143rd).

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Sheldon was not quite Franklin's equal in the second half on Wednesday. They fell 2-0 to the Wildcats.

Laguna Creek's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Sheldon, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2-1.

Laguna Creek might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Sheldon when the teams last played back in December of 2021. Can Laguna Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
