Northside Christian is 0-7 against Granville Christian Academy since April of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Lions will venture away from home to face off against Granville Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Northside Christian came up short against Liberty Christian Academy and fell 5-2. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Northside Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Henry Kester, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Granville Christian Academy made easy work of Genoa Christian Academy on Thursday and carried off a 17-2 win. Granville Christian Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.
Aiden Geiger made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Granville Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Bentley Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, four runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Johnson has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Rhoads, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Granville Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Genoa Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .273.
The victory made it two in a row for Granville Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 11-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Northside Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Northside Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Granville Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Northside Christian suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Granville Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
