Basketball Recap: Kingsford Comes Up Short

Kingsford lost against Gladstone back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Kingsford Flivvers were beaten by the Gladstone Braves 63-18. While losing is never fun, the Flivvers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Braves are ranked 37th).

Lillie Johnson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 26 points and 14 boards for Gladstone. The match was Johnson's fourth in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Addy Blowers, who posted 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Kingsford dropped their record down to 8-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Gladstone, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-1.

Coming up, Kingsford will welcome Menominee at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kingsford is facing Menominee at the right time seeing as Menominee is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Gladstone, they are taking a road trip to take on Iron Mountain at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
