Volleyball Game Preview: Murrieta Valley Nighthawks vs. Great Oak Wolfpack

For the first time this season, Murrieta Valley will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Monday. They are taking a road trip to face off against the Great Oak Wolfpack at 6:30 p.m.

Murrieta Valley's tournament run continued when they took on Norco on Saturday. Murrieta Valley took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Norco. The Nighthawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Murrieta Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jedi Malaambo had 21 assists and four digs. Malaambo is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 14 or more in each of the last eight games he's played.

Meanwhile, everything went Great Oak's way against Tahquitz on Wednesday as Great Oak made off with a 3-0 win.

The final score came out to 25-7, 25-8, 25-20.

Murrieta Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Great Oak, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.

Murrieta Valley couldn't quite get it done against Great Oak in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can Murrieta Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
