Softball Recap: Douglas Picks Up 14th Straight Win at Home

Douglas won against Reed last Tuesday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Everything went the Douglas Tigers' way against the McQueen Lancers as the Douglas Tigers made off with a 12-5 win. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Haylie Pledger made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off 12 hits. Pledger was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Ava Gildea was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Hailee Lister was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Douglas lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Douglas pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for McQueen, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coincidentally, Douglas and McQueen will both be playing Spanish Springs the next time they take the field. Douglas will head out to face Spanish Springs at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, while McQueen will head out to face them at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
