Softball Recap: Mansfield Gets the Win

While Mansfield's win against Booneville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers won by a run and slipped past the Bearcats 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won six in a row.

Bailey Quick made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Daisy Nelson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Miley Clopton, who went 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Mansfield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Mansfield's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Booneville, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-7.

Coming up, Mansfield will welcome Dover at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Booneville, they will head out to challenge Mena at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
