High school basketball: Longest active win streak in all 50 states

By Kevin Askeland Nov 7, 2024, 2:30pm

North Carolina's Central Cabarrus (Concord) leads the nation with 65 straight wins.

Central Cabarrus (Concord, N.C.) has the longest active win streak in high school basketball heading into the 2024-25 season. However, the Vikings are not the team most likely to break a state record for longest winning streak this year.

The record for longest win streak in North Carolina history is 91 games in a row by Beaufort (now East Carteret) from 1960 to 1962. With 65 straight wins, Central Cabarrus could break the record but would need to win its first 26 games in order to do so.

The safer bet to break a record would be North (Worcester, Mass.), which has 46 straight wins and needs just eight victories to break the record of 53 wins set by Cambridge Rindge & Latin (Cambridge) from 2016-18.

Ahead of the 2024-25 season, MaxPreps has identified the longest active win streaks in each state along with the state record for most consecutive wins.

Other schools that could break the state records this year include King Cove (Alaska), Dover (Del.), Loyola-Sacred Heart (Missoula, Mont.), Montpelier (Vt.) and Powell (Wyo.).

MaxPreps has also added most consecutive wins to the National High School Basketball Record Book.
