Basketball Recap: Twin Lakes Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Twin Lakes's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They had just enough and edged the Western Panthers out 48-46. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Indians as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Twin Lakes' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jasmine West led the charge by putting up 18 points and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which West has scored at least a third of Twin Lakes' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Lucas, who posted 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals.

Twin Lakes was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Western saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ella Rawlings went 7 of 16 on her way to 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rawlings has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhiana Bowman, who had eight points along with five boards and three blocks.

Twin Lakes' win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9. As for Western, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Twin Lakes will head out to face off against Benton Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Western, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-37 loss against Tippecanoe Valley on the 16th.
