Volleyball Recap: Northwestern Comes Up Short

If Northwestern was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Northeastern on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors fell just short of the Bellefontaine Chieftains by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Northwestern took Bellefontaine into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-19, 25-21, 20-25, 18-16.

Jaycee Robbins paced Northwestern's offense, picking up 17 kills. Robbins got some help from Ava Born and her 31 assists. Ava Berner controlled things from the service line, finishing with seven aces.

Northwestern now has a losing record of 1-2.

Northwestern wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Springfield on the 21st. As for Bellefontaine, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Riverside on the 21st.
