Football Recap: Plainfield Quakers vs. Decatur Central Hawks
After flying high against Greenwood last Friday, Plainfield came back down to earth. The Quakers took a 37-19 bruising from the Decatur Central Hawks on Friday. The contest marked the Quakers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Despite the loss, Plainfield still got an impressive performance from Zander Nattam, who picked up 106 receiving yards and one score. Nattam got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 67 yards.
Plainfield didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Tashawn Calahan was the real danger to the passing game, picking up two interceptions all by himself.
Braylon Morris continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Decatur Central, rushing for 97 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries.
Having lost for the first time this season, Plainfield fell to 5-1. As for Decatur Central, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-2.
Plainfield and Decatur Central should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Quakers will face off against Franklin Community at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (20 vs. 87). Meanwhile, Decatur Central (ranked 12th) will meet Greenwood (ranked 120th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
