League recap: Tuscaloosa Academy extends winning streak with victory over Sumter Academy

AISA AAA Region 1 recap Oct. 3, 2012

Tuscaloosa Academy extended the longest winning streak in AISA AAA Region 1 this week by beating Sumter Academy, 40-8. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Knights.

Lee-Scott Academy took down Kingwood Christian 54-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

The Lions' Gavin Sumrall and Montex Haynes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Sumrall has thrown for 456 yards this season, while Haynes, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 11 catches for 255 yards. Holt Ingalls from the Warriors leads the league in rushing with 204 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Macon-East Montgomery Academy takes on Glenwood. The Knights are currently in second, while the Gators are in fourth.

Glenwood led AISA AAA Region 1 in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on Ward Military Academy.
