Baseball Recap: Coudersport Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wellsboro, Coudersport was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Smethport Hubbers a 14-0 shutout. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Hubbers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Lawon Wetzel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Coudersport is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-3 otherwise. Wetzel was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Logan Jackson was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Thomas McClintic also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Coudersport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2025.

Coudersport now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Smethport, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Coudersport beat the Hubbers by a score of 11-1 later that day.
