Preview: Bethesda Christian Patriots vs. Danville Warriors
Two dominant in Kenzie Fulks and Emma Ancelet are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bethesda Christian Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Danville Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Bethesda Christian sitting on five straight wins and Danville on three.
Last Tuesday, in a tight match that could have gone either way, Bethesda Christian made off with a 46-45 victory over Lafayette Central Catholic.
Fulks was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Goodin, who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, a fact Danville proved on Saturday. They blew past Crawfordsville 51-11 on the road. Given Danville's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Crawfordsville is ranked 370th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Danville's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kooper Stone, who scored 13 points along with 5 steals, and Ancelet, who scored 14 points along with 7 steals and 6 assists. The game was Ancelet's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Maddy Wethington was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Bethesda Christian's win bumped their season record to 5-0 while Lafayette Central Catholic's defeat dropped theirs to 2-5.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Bethesda Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 51.4 points per game. It's a different story for Danville, though, as they've been averaging only 56.2 per game. The only thing between Bethesda Christian and another offensive beatdown is Danville.
