League recap: Grove City climbs in standings with win

Grove City was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fifth in Ohio Capital - Ohio. The Greyhounds defeated Groveport-Madison 42-24 earlier in the week.

Lincoln suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 45-6 loss to Lincoln. The Golden Lions had been ranked 25th, but fell to 44 following the defeat.

Reynoldsburg's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jordan Aekins threw for 148 and one touchdown and Mykel Trayler-Bennett had 119 yards receiving. On the ground Kumar Collins chipped in 140 yards. Sharrod Pollard helped Reynoldsburg's passing attack out by catching two balls for 29 yards.

Thanks to the talents of Aekins and Dionta Brown the Raiders have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Aekins leads the league in passing with 571 yards, while Brown has rushed for 331 yards this season. The Cruisers' Markel Davis leads the league in receiving yards with 245 on 14 catches.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Pickerington Central and Pickerington North. The Tigers enters the contest ranked 18th in the state, while the Panthers ranks 15th.

Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when Pickerington Central and Pickerington North meet this week. Jay Sharrett's team features well-regarded senior Taco Charlton while Tom Phillips's team has Jake Butt, a sought after senior.

The Panthers extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lancaster, 45-14. The win marks fifth in a row for the Pickerington North.
