Preview: Lewisville Lions vs. St. Joseph's Catholic Knights
Lewisville has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the St. Joseph's Catholic Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Lewisville rose to the challenge on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Calhoun Falls Charter 52-0 at home. Lewisville might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won nine matchups by 29 points or more this season.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph's Catholic strolled past Hunter-Kinard-Tyler with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 38-24. The win made it back-to-back wins for St. Joseph's Catholic.
St. Joseph's Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brayden Johnson led the charge by rushing for 188 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Campbell, who gained 124 total yards and two touchdowns.
Lewisville has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-10 Ridge Spring-Monetta and 1-9 Buford (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37.7% over those games). As for St. Joseph's Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
