Volleyball Game Preview: Cholla Chargers vs. Douglas Bulldogs

The Cholla Chargers will square off against the Douglas Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cholla has now lost 13 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since August 29.

Cholla lost 3-0 to Rio Rico on Monday.

Meanwhile, Douglas suffered their biggest loss since November 5, 2024 on Wednesday. They came up short against Rio Rico, falling 3-0.

Douglas was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Rio Rico work for it, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-18, 26-24.

Cholla will have to keep a close watch on Janessa Sanchez and Janessa Garcia, a pair of players who had a big impact on Douglas' prior game. Sanchez had 19 digs, while Garcia had 12 assists and three aces. Sanchez has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last nine times she's played.

Douglas' defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-4. As for Cholla, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.

Cholla might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Douglas in their previous matchup two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sanchez, who had 18 digs and four aces. Now that the Chargers know the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time?
