Softball Recap: Starpoint Spartans vs. Lockport Lions
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Starpoint had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top against the Lockport Lions by a score of 7-2. The win was familiar territory for Starpoint who now have three in a row.
Julia Lukasik spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in four consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Starpoint got a big performance out of Natalie Prezioso, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Emilie Pascual, who went 1-for-3 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.
Starpoint's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Lockport, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.
Starpoint didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-0 loss vs. Clarence on the 19th. Lockport does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
