Basketball Recap: Manawa Comes Up Short

Manawa lost against Wittenberg-Birnamwood back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wolves had to suffer through a 73-14 loss at the hands of the Chargers. The Wolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-10.

Rory Salvesen produced another solid performance almost dropping a double-double with 30 points and nine rebounds for Wittenberg-Birnamwood. Thanks to that strong game, Salvesen now owns an excellent 47.1% field goal percentage. Melaina Granquist was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 16 boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Manawa and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Wittenberg-Birnamwood, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manawa will challenge Amherst at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wittenberg-Birnamwood, they will take on Menominee Nation at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers' defense better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 62 points per game this season.
