Basketball Game Preview: Shasta Wolves vs. Foothill Cougars

The Shasta Wolves will square off against the Foothill Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Shasta made easy work of West Valley and carried off a 62-40 victory. With the Wolves ahead 37-16 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Meanwhile, Foothill entered their tilt with Chico on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They strolled past the Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 62-48.

Foothill's win came from a few key players Shasta will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zane Miceli, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 16 points and three blocks. Those three blocks gave him a new career-high. Matt Poulsen was another key player, going 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds.

Shasta now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Foothill, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Shasta came up short against Foothill when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 55-47. Can Shasta avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
