Basketball Recap: Greenwood Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Isaiah Scott-Palacios and Ty Kennedy

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Greenwood Christian couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 73-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Orangeburg Prep Indians. The loss continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Indians: they've now lost three in a row.

Ty Kennedy and Isaiah Scott-Palacios certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Kennedy dropped a double-double with 31 points and 13 rebounds, while Scott-Palacios almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. Scott-Palacios' evening made it 17 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Noah Vahjen, who posted two points.

Leading Orangeburg Prep to victory were Tilden Riley and Walt Mims. Riley dropped a double-double with 32 points and 22 boards, while Mims earned 19 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Mims a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Ravenell, who scored eight points and five assists.

Greenwood Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 22-9. As for Orangeburg Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Greenwood Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Orangeburg Prep, they will square off against Hilton Head Prep at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hilton Head Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Orangeburg Prep likes a good challenge.
