Preview: Mid-Carolina Rebels vs. Saluda Tigers
Mid-Carolina is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Saluda is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mid-Carolina Rebels will take on the Saluda Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mid-Carolina put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Abbeville 52-23 on the road. Given Mid-Carolina's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Abbeville is ranked 267th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
BreA Boyd and Brayden Brooks were among the main playmakers for Mid-Carolina as the former scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals and the latter scored 11 points along with nine steals. Boyd is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Shepherd, who scored four points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Saluda earned a 35-26 win over Ninety Six on Friday.
Mid-Carolina's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Saluda, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.
Mid-Carolina was able to grind out a solid win over Saluda when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 40-31. Does Mid-Carolina have another victory up their sleeve, or will Saluda turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
