Basketball Recap: St. Andrew's Episcopal Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. Andrew's Episcopal can now relate to. They received a blow on Saturday as they fell 62-46 to the Bay Springs Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 37th).

Despite the defeat, St. Andrew's Episcopal saw an underclassman step up: freshman Warwick Alley went 6-for-9 en route to 17 points and six boards. The dominant performance also gave Alley a new career-high in shooting accuracy (67%). Another player making a difference was William Johnson, who went 5-for-6 on his way to 10 points.

St. Andrew's Episcopal's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Bay Springs, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 25-5.

St. Andrew's Episcopal does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bay Springs, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 63-25 defeat against Richton on the 19th.
