Spring Valley faced Herbert Hoover in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Timberwolves' pitcher stepped up to hand the Huskies a 4-0 shutout. The win was nothing new for the Timberwolves as they're now sitting on five straight.

Not much got past Jonah Harrold, who gave up just six hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Herbert Hoover off the board. Harrold has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Spring Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Spencer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Spencer has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Spring Valley's victory bumped their record up to 19-8. As for Herbert Hoover, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spring Valley will square off against Point Pleasant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Big Blacks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Timberwolves' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Herbert Hoover, they will take on Buckhannon-Upshur at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bucaneers have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
