Softball Recap: Eastern Montgomery Beats Fleming for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Eastern Montgomery got themselves on the board against Fleming on Monday, but Fleming never followed suit. They blew past the Colonels 11-0. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 11 runs or more this season.

Mary Miller was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Macie Akers, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Sam Brein was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Eastern Montgomery was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fleming, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

The Colonels are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
