Timpson and Chireno are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Timpson Bears will take on the Chireno Owls at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Timpson came up short against Tenaha and fell 45-32. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 745th, while the Tigers are ranked 343rd).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Natalie Johnson, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Stewart, who put up six points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Chireno waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with 18 straight wins... but they left with 19. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 41-18 victory. The Owls have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 25 games by 22 points or more this season.

Chireno's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 30-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.8 points over those games. As for Timpson, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-14.

Things could have been worse for Timpson, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-38 loss to Chireno when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Timpson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
