Softball Recap: Bristol Central Rams vs. Berlin Redcoats

Bristol Central extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-8 in the process. They came up short against the Berlin Redcoats, falling 18-6. If the Rams were looking for revenge after losing 6-3 to the Redcoats when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Berlin, their record is now 7-3. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Berlin's part, Callie Jehning was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. Jehning has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Julia Matan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Cugno, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs.

Coming up, Bristol Central will challenge Lewis Mills at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. As for Berlin, they will square off against Plainville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
